Overview
The Seneca VPN Box is a server device that allows the you to centralise the management and connection of VPN-enabled Seneca devices, making it possible to organise a VPN single LAN (or remote control) or Point to Point (or Remote Service) network.
When used as a single LAN unit, the Seneca VPN box solves cases where it is necessary to create a connection allowing the communication between devices installed in different sites far from each other. This allows the formation of one network that can include device sub-networks, typical in SCADA and remote control environments.
The Point to Point method allows a maintenance technician to reach a single device, and, optionally it's subnetwork to work on it, typically for remote service of machines and reprogramming of a PLC/HMI verification of functions, as well as problem solving.
The VPN box can be configured using the VPN Box Manager software. To create the VPN tunnel between a remote PC and the network/device, the VPN client communicator software is provided.
The VPN box includes a passive fanless cooling system, two USB 2.0 ports on the front of the unit, as well as 2 high current USB 2.0 ports, 2 standard USB 2.0 ports, 1 VGA port, 1 HDMI port, 1 Gb LAN port and 1 DC (8 to 19V) jack on the back side of the unit. The VPN box runs on an 2-core Intel Atom N2800 processor clocked at 1.86 Ghz., and includes 2GB or DDR3 SO-DIMM memory and 32GB SSD drive storage.
The VPN box doesn't require a keyboard or mouse to operate, but these are required for recoveries and firmware updates. The unit can be positioned horizontally on a flat surface or fitted to a wall using appropriate bracket.
